May Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Our academic year is almost coming to an end.  Over the next eight weeks we will be concentrating on completing the letters of the alphabet and reviewing lessons learned.  We also have plenty of fun days planned for the remainder of the year.

This month’s topics include our, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day projects, the farm, space, and the start of dinosaur week.  We are also observing our caterpillars to complete their transition into butterflies.  Check your child’s class activity calendar for topics and special days for his/her class.

Family Fun Day will be held on Wednesday, June 7th from 10:00am – 2:00pm at D’Onofrio Park in New Rochelle.  Mark this date on your calendar.  Also note that in lieu of a spring fundraiser we will be having a 50/50 raffle which will be held at Family Fun Day.  Details will follow.

If your child is returning to Discovering Me in the fall, September’s tuition will be due by Friday, June 9th.  If this fee is uncollected by this date and you have not made arrangements with us for payment, we may not be able to reserve your child’s place.  You will receive September 2017 information in the mail by the end of the month.

Graduation for kindergarten bound children is tentatively set for Friday, June 23rd.  We are awaiting written confirmation from the School District.  As soon as we receive written confirmation for this date we will send a letter home with all the details so that you will be able to make arrangements to attend.

Just a few reminders:

-          Family Fun Day is Friday, June 7th.  There will be no school on this day.

-          School will be closed on Monday, May 29th and on Tuesday, May 30th in celebration of Memorial Day.  We will reopen on Wednesday, May 31st.

-          Dress your child appropriately for outdoor play – sneakers or rubber soled shoes only – no sandals or open toed shoes. Please do not send the girls in party dresses – jeans, shorts, and sweatpants are best.

-          Check the clothing in your child’s shoe box – some children have outgrown the clothing in their shoe boxes and most have winter clothing in them.

-          Please remember to encourage your child to leave all toys at home.  There are no toys from home allowed in school except on special occasions of which you will be notified.  Thanks.

-          Put sunscreen on your child in the morning – we are outside everyday now and the sun is strong at certain times.

-          For Friday Full Day children only – If you have not paid for your child’s pizza as of yet, please do so now.  It is past due.  Thank you.

As always, if you have any concerns or suggestions regarding our program or your child please feel free to call or visit any time.

We would like to wish all the Moms a very special and happy Mother’s Day!

Sincerely,

Carol, Laurie and Staff
